Making Paper Flowers

Roses are red, violets are blue, flowers made from paper, are the perfect; I Love You!

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, here are a few little tips on how to make your day even more special! Sure a dozen long stemmed Red Roses are the tradition, but why not step outside the box a little? Flowers wilt and die after a few days, taking with them their beautiful scent, and leave your vases sad and empty. Paper Flowers on the other hand? They could last a lifetime! Plus, they show all the time and effort you’ve taken past picking up the phone and placing an order.

Materials

  • 5-6 sheets of Tissue Paper in various colors
  • 12 wires or pipe cleaners (preferably green)
  • A roll of Florist tape
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

Lay your tissue paper out on a flat working surface. Using your ruler cut out 4” x 4” squares and set aside. Once you have your squares all cut out, lay a few of them on top one another, alternating colors. Twist them around so they’re all in different directions, but the center still lines up. Then, very carefully poke your wire through the center of the squares. Run the wire down until there’s about an inch sticking out from the paper. Slowly scrunch up the paper, about a quarter of an inch so that the “petals” flare out. Using the Florist tape, tape up the “stem” of the flower so that it stays in place. You can also fold over the tip of the wire so that it’s not sticking straight out from the center of the flower. Set aside and repeat with the remaining flowers until you have a nice little bouquet

You can wrap up your flowers using an extra sheet of Tissue Paper and tie it off with a Ribbon for a perfect thoughtful Valentine’s Day Gift!
