Perfect Appetizers for a Graduation Party

By Sakai Blue , last updated April 22, 2011

Graduation party appetizers should basically be comprised of all the food that the grad enjoys. Below are some ideas you can consider for your own party.

Diploma Appetizers

Diploma appetizers are cute little hors d’oeuvres that look like tiny diplomas. It’s an egg roll style appetizer that is wrapped with a tiny green onion bow. You sauté things like finely chopped mushrooms, onions, and cream cheese. You take individual slices of bread with the ends cut off and flatten it out to make your dough. You spoon the mixture onto the flattened dough, brush with butter and bake until browned. Delicious and smart!

Sliders

Sliders are a big hit everywhere because they’re easy to eat and pack a big punch in a small bite. Have fun with them and make different versions like smoked bacon/blue cheese versions, or veggie sliders. You can even make lobster or crab meat filled sliders. Serve the on sweet and soft potato bread.

Sweet Appetizers

Prosciutto-wrapped figs are another great option. People love the combination of salt and sweet. Another alternative to this dessert is serving bacon-wrapped dates.

Chips

Spicy pita chips served with different types of hummus seem to disappear really quickly at parties. You can make your own hummus with chickpeas, garbanzo beans, tahini and the spices of your choice. An amazing store bought brand is Sabra. They come in array of different flavors, including Supremely Spicy, Luscious Lemon and Roasted Red Pepper.

Mini-Pizzas

Mini pizzas will take everyone off of their diets for the night. You can serve vegetarian, margherita, Hawaiian or just about any style you can think of. They can either be premade or you can have a mini-pizza bar.

Grilled Shrimp

A platter of grilled shrimp with choice of dips is another delicious choice that everyone will appreciate. You’ll marinate shell-on shrimps in brine for about an hour before grilling. It will make people think of lobster, but at a much lower cost!

Bacon and Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms

Bacon and cheddar stuffed mushrooms are crimini mushrooms that have been stuffed with cheddar cheese and smoked bacon, and baked. You can pretty much be assured that you will have nothing left but an empty platter minutes after you set these out.
