Planning a Joint Birthday Party

Throwing a joint birthday party can be a great way to save money while still hosting an incredible party for all those involved. On many occasions, parents will choose to throw a joint party if they have twins or if two of their kids have birthdays that are fairly close to one another. However, joint birthday parties are definitely not limited to single families and today, it's not uncommon to see different families coming together to host a joint birthday party for their children. However, it's best to keep the joint birthday party limited to two individual birthdays.

Themes and Invitations

Once you know the two guests of honor for the birthday bash, you can begin creating and sending out invitations. If you are working with the parents of another child to throw the party, be sure to ask for their input when it comes to sending out the invitations. You may also want to determine what kind of theme you would like to have at the joint birthday party.

Then you can add elements of your main theme to the invitations themselves if you so choose. For instance, if you are throwing a joint birthday party for two young boys, you may want to choose a monster truck or Star Wars theme. Then, when sending out invitations, you can choose cards that include spaceships or monster trucks. To save on costs even further, consider creating your own birthday cards. There are currently many different software programs today that can allow you to easily create and print off your own birthday invitations.

Choosing the Entertainment

Next, you'll want to figure out what type of entertainment you would like to have at the party. For instance, for younger kids you may consider hiring a clown or funny musician. Either way, you want to choose someone that can keep children of multiple ages engaged and impressed. To add a bit of individual flair for the birthday boys or girls, you should plan to have a birthday cake for each child and be sure to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.

For activities at the party, you should choose games and other fun activities that all the guests will enjoy. For instance, if one of the birthday boys or girls really enjoys a particular game, then you can play that game for a while, but be sure to add another activity that the second birthday boy or girl enjoys. Generally, the rule of thumb is to keep things balanced between the two birthday boys or girls. Finally, remember not to stress yourself too much when planning the party. If you follow the steps previously mentioned and create a fun atmosphere for the children, then your joint birthday party is likely to be an incredible success.
