Planning a monster truck themed party for your child can be a great way to add an exciting element to any celebration. Whether it's a birthday, school celebration or related event, young children tend to be big fans of extreme sports like monster truck racing and this type of theme is sure to earn your child points with his or her peers. Also, given the ample and diverse array of party supplies available at many craft stores, you should have no trouble hunting down the perfect items to bring your monster truck theme to life.

Party Supplies

First, you will need to determine whether it will be easier and more cost effective to purchase the party supplies through a local retailer or online. If you live in a populated area, then you should little trouble obtaining the decorations and invitations from your local crafts stores. However, if you live in a small town or rural area, consider purchasing the materials through a popular party supply store. Purchase hard, black card stock if you'd like to design your own invitations. You can cut the card stock into circles and decorate them to resemble monster truck tires and include your message on the inside of the card.

Decoration

To let visitors know they have found the right house, you can create a "stoplight" by blowing up one red, one yellow, and one green balloon. Glue the balloons to one another so they're vertical like a regular stoplight and use tape to attach the balloons to your mailbox. Purchase monster truck napkins, plates, and cups from the party store. Visit your local grocery stores to see about getting a monster truck cake. You can also order a custom monster truck cake from certain food stores.

Activities

Visit the toy store to pick-up a few toy monster trucks. While you don't have to go overboard, plan on purchasing several toy monster trucks so the children will have a chance to take turns playing with them. If possible, try to host the party outside so the kids can play in the dirt with the trucks. You could even use upturned soil to make small jumps and a course for the kids to play on. Simply create a course that fits the space you've chosen, add a start and finish line, and build small dirt mounds for the trucks to fly off.

Alternatively, you could purchase a monster truck game for the kids to enjoy on a video game system such as the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

Purchase white and black checkered tablecloths to prevent messes while keeping the monster truck theme alive and well. For party games, you could have the kids draw monster trucks or race radio controlled monster trucks on the course you created. Finally, when searching for deals to make the party a reality, be sure to be on the lookout for "party packs." These bulk orders allow customers to get all the party accessories—napkins, plates, gift bags, etc.—all in one shot.
