Polar Electro manufactures a line of fitness-tracking armbands designed for use in sports and exercise. These armbands allow users to measure factors such as heart rate, distance and speed. Using Polar’s WebSync software, you can transfer this data from your armband to a computer. If you have trouble transferring the information to your computer, you may need to adjust your firewall, anti-virus software or network settings.
Verify Product Compatibility
The WebSync software enables users to transfer fitness data to the Polar website for storage and analysis. The application does not work with all Polar products: it is compatible with the RS300X, RCX5, CS500, FA20, FT40, FT60, FT80 and FT7 models. Verify that you are using one of these models. To determine your product model, refer to your user manual or visit the Polar Personal Trainer website.
Check Network Settings
If the WebSync software displays a "No connection to the server..." error, it means that the software cannot connect to the Internet or the Polar server. To correct the issue, check your network settings. Right-click the “WebSync” icon on the Windows taskbar, and then click "Network Settings." Click "Automatically detect network settings" to force WebSync to use your Internet connection settings. If this does not work, try adjusting the settings manually.
Firewall and Anti-virus Software
Some firewalls and anti-virus programs offer very high levels of protection from malware, spyware and other threats, but they may also restrict data from certain legitimate programs on your computer. If you can connect to the Polar server but you cannot transmit your data, check your anti-virus and firewall settings. Reduce the security level of the software temporarily, if possible, or turn off your firewall and anti-virus program when you need to sync data to the Polar server. Always re-enable your security programs when you are finished syncing data.
To use the WebSync software, you must connect your Polar product to the FlowLink docking device. FlowLink then connects to the computer and processes the data transfer. A problem may occur with FlowLink that prevents WebSync from working. If the DATA light remains unlit, try adjusting your network settings. If the ALIGN light is unlit, ensure that your Polar product is fully connected and not in sleep mode. The product must be properly positioned on the FlowLink for the transfer to work. Check the FlowLink for a plastic protection shield that may prevent transmission. Place the FlowLink on a hard, flat surface, but do not set it on a metal surface.
