As the season changes from summer to fall, so to do the trends you need to follow, especially when it comes to haircuts and styles. Many men disregard this fact and simply believe that only women follow such style changes. However, keeping up with the current looks gives you an edge. Keep in mind that following the trends doesn’t mean you are just going to look like everyone else. In fact this year the trend is to show off a little personality and make your own variations on popular cuts. With that in consideration, here are the top men’s hairstyles for fall of 2011.
Fringe is in. If you want an idea of what the fringe hairstyle is than simply think of Justin Bieber or Tom Brady. Ok, don’t think about it too long. Those guys tend to exaggerate this look, however if tamed and styled correctly this look can be very appealing without making you look like a member of a boy band. A fringe cut is essentially a part that streaks over one side of your forehead. This cut can look very contrived if you don’t get it cut properly. You want your hair to stay out of your eyes. If your hair is too long than it may appear as if you are trying too hard and that is the last thing you want. Style your hair with some wax to give it a bit of a ruffled or messy look. You don’t have to do too much, just try and keep it looking natural.
When people hear the phrase slick back they immediately think of a mobster’s hairstyle and shy away. However, a contemporary take on the slick back is actually a very fresh and popular new look this fall. To achieve this look you need to push you hair backward in a diagonal direction as opposed to the more traditional straight back. Usually a three-quarter part is a good look with this style. If you happen to have wavy hair than you may want to keep a slight lift at the front of your head and let the hairs fall back naturally. If you have thinner or straighter hair than you should consider keeping it flat. If you want to make this look even cleaner get your sides and back cut very short. Fade the cut up and let it blend, however make sure that on top your hair stays at least 3 inches or longer.
Fall is when the temperatures starts to drop and as it gets colder you want to have more hair to help keep you warm. We all know that 90% of body heat escapes through the head so having hair to stay warm at all times is very important. With that in mind, the messy mop haircut is becoming a popular look. This is a style that works great for men with curly or wavy hair as that will give off that ruffled look. The key to this style is to keep your hair long even on your sides and back. Even though this is called a mop cut, it shouldn’t be overtly messy. Style it slightly so that it doesn’t look like you just rolled out of bed.
