For some students, finding a scholarship is the best and/or best way that they can attend college. Each state has its own scholarship programs, and there are even a few that are based in other areas but make awards to individuals who live in certain areas. Montana is a state that is home to plenty of students who have a definite need for scholarships.
The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute Scholarships Program is available to full time students who are in their junior or senior year of college and who intend to enter the field of mining for their career. This award is available to students of each of the Rocky Mountain member states, including Montana. For a student to be eligible, they must be studying geology, mining, electrical, mechanical or environmental engineering, mineral processing or metallurgy as their major, with the intent to obtain their degree in one of those fields. Scholarship awards are given to cover the expenses of the student's tuition so that they can continue with their studies. They may also be eligible for an award after graduation if they are planning on continuing their studies as a graduate student.
