Nothing unites a group of friends together quite like the combination of a pool game and some beverages, which is why you'll probably want to do all that you can to protect your pool table from the inevitable spills and stains that occur in these situations. Pool games are often accompanied by the presence of drinks like beer or wine, and sometimes, these games can even get a little rowdy. Stop into any highway road house or billiards hall to confirm this. It's no surprise, then, that the occasional snifter of Chablis will take a fall onto the precious felt playing field of the pool table. Fortunately, as a pool table owner, there are several actions you can take that will prevent this from occurring.
One way of keeping drinks from staining your pool table is to set up an area designated for drinking. This doesn't need to be complicated. You can set a high table with bar chairs several feet away from the pool table, and let your guests know that this high table is where drinks can be placed. You could even adhere a line of bright tape on the floor surrounding the pool table. Make a square with the tape that goes out four to five feet away from the pool table's side, and designate the area a "No Fly Zone" for any food or drink. This method will make it clear to your guests that any stain-causing item shouldn't be brought into the zone.
One accessory that is necessary to keeping your pool table stain-free is the pool table cover. These are usually made out of a durable material such as vinyl or even leather, and keep the pool table covered when not in use. This will also prevent the accumulation of dust on the table.
