The work, the kids, and rushing from one appointment to the next can take a real toll on your daily schedule, therefore finding quick ways to grab some rest and relaxation throughout the day can be key to keeping up. No matter the amount of time you have, it is important to create time throughout your day to pause, refresh and rejuvenate.
Pour in the bath salts and bubbles and slide into the silky warmth of the tub. A nice steamy bath is a quick way to reduce the stress of the day and pamper your self. Have your significant other watch the kids, take a pile of magazines, turn on the soft tunes and kick back for a nice soak. Once you have finished you’ll not only feel all the tightness of the day dissipate, you’ll also feel clean and refreshed.
Sometimes, just getting out into the beautiful outdoors can readjust your outlook on the day. If the pressures of the office or home feel like they are getting to be too much, take a stroll. When you are walking, be it around the block or through the park, take the time to observe your surroundings. Once you return to the tasks at hand you’ll have a whole new outlook on the rest of the day.
If you are a literary sort, or just enjoy a rip roaring good story, take a break or two though out your day to read a chapter or two. Allow yourself to escape into the narrative. Even better, in nicer weather, take your book to a park or quiet spot outdoors to read.
Light the candles and assume the lotus position. Meditation is a great way to get centered and let the stress of the day go. If you can’t reach Nirvana all on your own and require guidance, try checking at local gyms, wellness center or online to find classes in meditation that are offered near you.
Unwind with a nice relaxing cup of green tea. If your day is nonstop and you don’t have time to really relax, enjoy a green tea. Green tea has many health benefits, including being known to induce relaxation without creating a drowsy feeling. To distress, refresh and take on the rest of the day, grab a cup of tea and recharge for 15 minutes.
Remember when you were in Kindergarten and you would take a nap and wake up ready to take on your A, B, Cs? Well, naps can still recharge your battery and help you get you over the mid-day slump. If you don’t work in an office, take a quick 15 to 20 minutes and see how refreshed and ready you feel afterwards.
After a hard day of running around, come home and release the pressures of the day by lighting an essential oils candle. The pleasant scent of the candle will have a relaxing effect on your senses and ease you into an evening of peace and quiet. Even if you don’t necessarily enjoy the scent of the candle, the soft, subtle dancing of the candlelight will take you away from the pressures of the day.
