For the bride, bridesmaids are a huge and a very important part of her wedding as these are her closest friends that she wants to help celebrate. However, to be a bridesmaid often requires an expensive commitment: throwing showers, parties, and most of all, buying the dresses. Unless all of your friends are super high up on the income ladder, keeping costs low is the best way to ensure all of your friends can be in your bridal party completely stress free. Though shopping for an affordable bridesmaid dress can be difficult, here are a few tips to keep price down.
If you are the bride and intent on picking out all the dresses, aim for a lower price point for all. If you are less set on unity though, giving the brides a color, a style, or just a general recommendation can help them find a suitable dress within their own individual price ranges. However, in terms of retailers, try the following for a few good bets, though be willing to be flexible about color or style if price is your main object.
J.Crew has a great bridal section and though most dresses will retail in the $200 range, they have sales that bring the prices below the $100 mark. Taryn dress in silk chiffon, for instance, is retailing for $89.99, and the bow monde dress in silk taffeta is retailing for as low as $79.99 in some colors. However, to get an even better deal, look in the regular women's dress section. Most dresses in this section look quite similar to bridal dresses and retail for much less.
Chains like David's Bridal will also offer affordable dresses, many for as low as $59 on sale. For example, the Charmeuse Halter Dress with Ruched Waist is on sale from $99 at $59.99 and comes in five colors and sizes up to 16.
Another great way to find dresses is to look in places you might not traditionally because many stores, by taking on the bridesmaid name to dresses, raise prices.
