If you look around your bedroom and see clutter everywhere, it's time to go shopping for bed risers. Your closets and drawers are overflowing to the point where you cannot even close them, and you wish you had more storage space. You can make your wish a reality with bed frame risers. Bed frame risers are placed under your bed to give your bed added height. By giving your bed added height, you create more space under your bed for storing all you clutter. Bed risers are inexpensive storage alternatives that can give you more space without taking up more room in your home with additional closets or cabinets.

Where to Buy

You can find bed risers for sale at most furniture and mattress stores. If your local furniture or mattress store does not carry bed risers, you can find them for sale on the Internet. Before you go to the store or go on-line to purchase your bed risers, you will need to know your type of bed and the style of riser you would like to purchase. Your bed type is basically the size of your bed. Bed sizes come in twin, full, queen, king and California king.

Types of Bed Risers

There are two types of bed frame risers on the market. The first type is a rectangular bed frame riser that is in the shape of a box. Rectangular bed risers typically come in sets of four, and the risers are placed underneath the feet of your bed to give it added height. The second type is in the shape of an elongated circle. The elongated bed frame risers have a slotted clamp attached which slides over the end of your bed frame to give it added height. The second type of bed riser gives more support to your bed frame and works best with larger beds, such as king and queen size beds. Before determining which type of bed riser you would like to buy, examine your bedroom. Determine which bed riser will best fit your type of bed and best meet your storage needs.

Attaching Bed Risers

As you are determining which type of bed frame riser to purchase, it helps to take into consideration how you will attach the bed risers. No matter which type of riser you buy, you will need to attach to your bed frame one at a time. You will need to lift each corner of your bed, one at a time, so that each corner is at a height higher than your bed riser. If you have rectangular bed risers, you will need to position the riser underneath the leg of the bed frame. Gently lower the corner of the bed until the leg rests on top of the riser. If you are using bed risers that attach directly to the bed frame, then you need to slide the riser onto the end of the frame at each corner. Do not try to attach the riser to the frame by yourself. Have a friend or family member hold up each corner of the bed while you attach the bed riser to the frame.

Double-Check

Once you have purchased your bed riser of choice and secured them to the bottom of your bed, you will want to double-check the condition of your bed risers. An incorrectly attached bed riser can cause your bed to collapse and give you a rude awakening in the middle of the night as you try to slumber. After the bed risers are attached to the frame, do a visual check of all your bed frame risers. Make sure the legs of your bed are situated at the center of your rectangular bed risers. If you have bed risers that attach to the frame, make sure the clamps are tightly shut around the edges. Once you have given the bed risers a visual inspection, lightly sit on the edge of the bed. Make sure the bed is centered by lightly rocking back and forth. If everything is in place, your bed will remain in place as you lightly rock.

Storage

In addition to purchasing bed risers, you may want to purchase some additional under bed storage accessories to help you organize your space. Under bed storage accessories can be purchased at your local drug or department store. Long, thin plastic storage bins work best for storing things under your bed. It is also a good idea to store your items in clear containers. Clear containers will allow you to instantly see the items you have stored without having to open the container.
