An A-line skirt is a popular women's garment style that's designed to be fitted at the hip and slowly widen as it reaches the hem; this triangular shape gives it its name, as it closely resembles a capital letter A. While the A-line is most closely associated with skirts, it can also be used for dresses and coats. The style was quite popular in the 1950s and slowly went out of fashion through the 70s and 80s. Retailing for $7,550, this classic skirt is made of a butter soft tobacco leather and has a simple pleated style that works well in the office with a blazer and flats or can be worn as a bolder garment with a fancy scarf and daring top. Bergdorf sells the Herve Leger A-line Skirt, which has an anthracite knit, signature bandage detailing, fitting through the waist with a slight flare at the hip, a banded back zip and a comfortable rayon, nylon blend. You don't always have to spend a ton to get a great skirt, however; the Macy's Material Girl Ruffled Tiered A Line Mini is a comfortable cotton and spandex blend with a wide elastic waistband that only retails for $26.
