Founded in 1943 by Robert Paxton McCulloch, McCulloch is one of the most famous manufacturers of chainsaws. They introduced the one-man chainsaw to America in the 1948. Something that you may not have known about the McCulloch brand is that its founder, Robert Paxton McCulloch, is also famous for purchasing the London Bridge and moving it to Lake Havasu, Arizona, a city that he founded. Today, McCulloch offers four different kinds of chainsaws: two gas-powered and two electric. Use this as a guide to decide which is right for you.
The MCC1514
This is McCulloch’s smallest chainsaw with just a 14” bar. It is electric and has a small, 1.5 horsepower engine. Because of the shorter bar and engine, it weighs only 5.5 lbs. It has increased safety features and was designed for the everyday homeowner to prune, hedge, and cut branches.
The MCC3516F
With a 16” bar and 3.5 horsepower engine, the MC3516F is McCulloch’s more powerful electric chainsaw. Like the 1514, it has increased safety features and a low kickback chain but is strong enough to cut down small trees.
The MC3516
Built with an anti-vibration system, this gas-powered chainsaw has a 16” bar and a 35 cc engine. Though not quite as eco-friendly as the MCC’s listed above, it also has a low kickback chain, which, on a gas-powered saw, reduces fuel consumption and harmful emissions. Similar to the 3615F, it can be used to cut small trees.
The MC4218AV
This is the largest chainsaw that McCulloch offers with an 18” bar and a 42 cc engine. It is gas-powered and designed to for larger jobs but is still considered easy-to-use by consumer standards.
Whichever McCulloch chainsaw you decide on, you can feel confident that you are using the original and most trusted name in American chainsaws!
