Shopping for a Women's Saint James Sweater

By Kyera Giannini , last updated June 22, 2011

The French company Saint James, known originally for its pure knitted wool Breton seaman’s sweater, now has a stylish selection of women’s sweaters in the nautical style. Shopping for a woman’s sweater is very easy when you use the company’s website as a starting point.

The Saint James Website
This is the best place to start your search for a Saint James sweater. They have an easy to navigate site with a Women’s section. Click on the “Shop Online” button at the bottom of the page and navigate to the Women’s section. You can purchase directly from the site and see the variety of colors available. If you find a sweater you like, you can browse the rest of the website for a matching shirt or coat. A few other online venues sell the sweaters, but for a comprehensive collection the official website is best. EBay also offers the items but you never know the actual quality of the item or what will be available.
Styles
Many of the sweaters feature horizontal, navy blue and white lines. This makes the sweaters the perfect top for chilly summer days by the ocean. For the classic seaman’s sweater, pick the Pont R with its thinly lined body and sleeves. One shoulder has buttons and the neck has a thin collar. The Pouliguen is a stylish take on the sweater with a deep V-neck and a set of navy and white stripes with one red band near the bottom. To get a French inspired style try the La Baule R with its striped pattern and laced V-neck. They also offer a series of dark navy sweaters with small diagonal zippers placed near the necklines that open to reveal a swatch of striped jersey fabric. Because horizontal bands are not flattering for all people, these slimming, dark sweaters are perfect if you want to avoid the stripes.
Pick up a chic Saint James sweater and head down to the docks to enjoy the summer months.
