The Style of Victoria Beckham

By Laura Richter , last updated May 25, 2011

Fashionistas around the world love studying the style of Victoria Beckham. The former member of the Spice Girls earned her nickname Posh through her designer tastes in clothes. When the group went on hiatus in 2000, Victoria Beckham’s fashion star continued to rise. She went on to become a spokesperson for Dolce and Cabana and Rocawear. Beckham developed her own collection, dVb denim in 2006. She relaunched the collection in 2009 under her own name. If you want to emulate Beckham’s style, you will need to embrace the less is more philosophy.

Less Is More

In the past, Beckham has relied on minimalism. Her style relied on showing off her thin body. Beckham often appeared at red carpet events wearing cut-out dresses or skirts with large slits up the side. She also covered her body with clothing made from tight, clingy fabric.

For her own collection, Beckham has tended to stay with the form-fitting aesthetic. In 2009 and 2010, she embraced mini dresses and floor-length eveningwear that called attention to the waist. In 2011, Beckham’s collection has featured asymmetrical elements, such as off-centered necklines.

Beckham’s clothing is understated. You do not see outrageous patterns in her work. Instead, she relies on the cut and fold of the fabric to provide classic looks.

Pants and Heels

Beckham’s denim line looks like something she would be wear in her daily life. Once again, she has chosen form-fitting denim that looks like skinny jeans or leggings. Zippers appear on the back pockets or the bottom of the legs. Her 2011 denim collection features jeans made from stretch fabric.

Although shoes are not an official part of Beckham’s collection, she is well known for wearing high-heeled shoes everywhere. From red carpet events to baseball games, Beckham loves showing off her well-toned calves. Fashionistas in the media keep their eyes on her feet to see what outrageous shoes she will wear next. Perhaps she will expand her collection to include her distinctive taste in footwear.
