A bold red dress can be an immediate attention grabber when you walk into the room, or it can be a subdued piece that's meant to highlight other items in your wardrobe, such as your favorite jewelry or chunk heels. As fall approaches and the short dresses lengthen, top designers have released some stylish red dresses for fall. Read on to learn about some of these great looks.

There are tons of amazing red dresses for fall that can fit into nearly any budget. Alice and Olivia makes a stellar option in the Letticia Shirt Dress with Belt, which it sells for $396. This is a more refined look than most shirtdresses, and has a gathered skirt and 3/4 length sleeves. The shirtdress is made of a very soft stretchy silk and has a minimalist floral pattern all over the body. Alice and Olivia suggests you wear the Letticia Shirt Dress with a contrasting skinny belt. Rag and Bone makes another youthful option in the Dalmeny Dress, which it sells for $415. The dress has a boatneck collar, gathered elastic at the front of the waist and an exposed zipper on the back. The dress is made of a 92% silk and 8% lycra blend and comes down just above the knee. Nordstrom carries a slightly more affordable option in the JS Collections Strapless Taffeta Dress, which goes for $178. This pleated dress has a sweetheart neckline, floral cutouts along the hem and a side zip with a hook and eye closure. The dress is fully lined, made of polyester and has boning throughout the bodice. For a slightly bolder dress, try the Meghan Los Angeles Cole Dress, which sells for $286 at Couture Candy. Like many dresses sold at Couture Candy, the Cole Dress has been spotted on tons of top celebrities. The maxi dress has a simple light red cotton body with white lace detailing running down the center of the dress all the way down to the hem.

For a steal on a feminine red dress for fall, snag the Minimarket Belted Crepe Dress, which retails for $330 but now sells for just $132 at The Outnet. The dress is made out of a vermillion crepe and has a low V neck, half length sleeves, a pleated front and side slit pockets. The dress also has a detachable waist tie, a curved hem and matching button fastenings down the front of the dress. The Outnet suggests you wear the dress with a pair of kitten heels. Neiman Marcus carries a bold fall friendly pretend dress in the Just Cavalli Mixed Print Jersey Dress, which it sells for $555. This has an all over red and cream body with a mixed lace and dotted print. The dress has a square neckline, 3/4 length sleeves, a tight fit and a pullover style. The Mixed-Print dress falls to the mid thigh and has a viscose and spandex body made in Italy. The department store also stocks the Madeline Tie Waist Dress, which it sells for $345. This berry colored dress has a rayon body with a round neck, hidden button front and long bishop sleeves, the last being a rarity in recent women's collections. The dress has a self tie waist, a shift silhouette and a look that goes great with dark tights, which can be perfect for fall.

If you'd rather save a bit on your next red fall dress, you could do much worse than the Staring at Stars Buffalo Utility Dress, which Urban Outfitters sells for $59. This dress is made of an ultra soft cotton and has a woven body with a buffalo plaid pattern. The scoopneck dress also has a cinched waist and an asymmetrical hem, as well as a button placket and chest pockets. CUSP, a high end online store associated with Neiman Marcus, has a red dress that'll fit right in at your next cocktail party. The Black Halo Kennedy Asymmetric Neck Dress sells for $350 and a red jersey knit body, a draped neckline with a scoop back, no sleeves and an inset Empire waist. The fitted dress has a back vent and hidden zip, and is made of a polyester, rayon and spandex blend. CUSP suggests you wear the dress with black lace tights along with platform shoes or pumps. Neiman Marcus carries a similar look in its department stores as well; the Kay Unger New York Long Sleeve Cowl Neck Dress sells for just $200 and is also quite body flattering. The dress has a cowl neckline and is made of a red stretch ponte with long sleeves and slight ruching at the waist. The dress has a sheath silhouette, as well as a hidden zip in the back and a vent as well.
