Just because you don't live on the coast doesn't mean that your home can't reflect the breezy, laid-back vibe of the beach. Incorporating seashells into your decorating is the perfect way to achieve the feeling of a vacation getaway at home. The key is to developing this look is weaving seashells into the design of each living space, creating a consistent, beachy look throughout your home.

Table Centerpiece: Next time you have guests over for dinner, swap out the candlesticks you always use for a seashell centerpiece instead. Fill a clear glass bowl or vase with a variety of seashells and place it in the center of the table. This interesting centerpiece is sure to be a conversation starter. If your table is large enough, and you have enough shells, create two or three centerpieces to fill the space.

Paperweight: Liven up your study or home office by substituting a large seashell for your normal paperweight. Not only will it look great but perhaps it'll also be a soothing influence during a hectic day.

Candle Holder: Create an air of coastal romance by creating a seashell candleholder. Fill a large glass cylinder with sand, add a pillar candle and surround the candle with small seashells. The cylinder will cast a beautiful glow throughout your living room and a beach-scented candle will only add to the atmosphere. If the cylinder is large enough, consider adding a piece of driftwood for extra visual interest.

Picture Frame: Bringing the beach into any room in your house by creating a seashell picture frame. Arrange seashells on a plain picture frame until you get the look you desire. Then use a hot glue gun to secure the shells in place. Consider using the frames to highlight a picture of a recent beach vacation or a classic black and white beach print. This method also works well for adorning mirrors.
