Tips for Outdoor Entertaining

With summer quickly approaching, outdoor BBQs and parties is the perfect way to take advantage of warm days and cool nights. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when planning your outdoor entertaining. You'll have to remember to consider catering, pest control, and accommodations to throw the best outdoor party you can!

Bugs!

Bugs are a huge concern when working out how to have fun in the sun but keep your food nice and clean. Citronella candles are a must-have for any outdoor gathering as they both offer a nice glowing ambiance while successfully keeping creepy crawlers at bay.

Food tents and covers are also a good way to make sure you don’t have any added protein floating around in your salads & pastas. You can find them at most convenience stores, or places like K-Mart and Target.

Setting Up Camp

It’s a good idea to make sure that there’s enough seating and table space for your guests. Try using extra chairs or tables from inside, or if you’ve run out of options, and Home Depot is all out of cheap plastic chairs, think of using a picnic blanket as a seating area.

Another fun thing to utilize is your surrounding nature when setting up decorations. Lanterns, Christmas lights, and streamers all help create a festive outdoor feel. If you’re throwing a themed party, stock up on streamers in certain colors (i.e. red white & blue for the 4th of July). Also since you’re outside, adding a few freshly picked flower arrangements to your tables is a very nice touch.

Food and Drinks

Finally, the most important element of an outdoor gathering is grilling up some edible treats and serving some cold frosty beverages. Recyclable & disposable plates, cups & flatware always make for an easy clean-up, but if you’re into conservation, perhaps invest in some fun unbreakable plastic dishware.

Buffets tend to work well in outdoor scenarios as most people like to chat, munch and go back for seconds. Plus, then your BBQ chef can easily heat up food and serve it hot in small doses.

So enjoy the summer and live it up outdoors!
