favorite of Chicagoans. Owned by Maud Jannin and Joel Mallet, the salon’s two locations cater to all hair types. Stylist, Minolis Kostantinidis, is recommended by Allure magazine for his ability to deftly transform hair’s color with highlights. Sine Qua Non
With three locations across Chicago and a fourth opening in June 2011, Sine Qua Non has consistently been recognized as one of he city’s best salons. In 2010, the Chicago Reader declared the chain to be Chicago’s best salon. Its stylists have worked on the coifs of Grammy-winning indie rock band, Arcade Fire. Van Cleef Hair Studio has the distinction of styling first lady Michelle Obama’s hair from the age of 18. The establishment is situated in a former church building and is owned by Rahni Flowers and Daryl Wells, who plan to sell it and move to Costa Rica.
