Knowing the top trends in girls' clothing for this fall is a must if you have a daughter getting ready to go back to school. From shirts to shoes, here are a few basic must haves you don't want to miss this season.
Screened Tees
Girls are keeping it casual this fall with a vast assortment of screened t-shirts. Bright and whimsical or simple and iconic, the options for these screened t-shirts are endless and very versatile. Worn a little loose with her favorite pair of skinny or boot-cut jeans, this laid-back style is a very popular trend starting out the new school year.
Jeans
Denim is always in fashion but not in every form. The top styles for jeans this fall are boot cut and skinny jeans. Skinny jeans should crop right above the ankle and boot-cut need to come down to within an inch of the floor. Both styles are very popular in light and dark shades. Other trends with denim jeans this year are two back pockets on the seat of the pants along with embellishments on those back pockets.
Blazers and Knit Jackets
As the fall turns crisper this year girls will be looking for a way to keep stylishly warm. The trend this year is the more tailored look of blazers. For example, Nordstrom's has a chic new Paper Doll Knit Blazer that would take the chill away over a screened tee or even a dressier top. Knit cardigans are also very popular over a simple or ruffled camisole for nicer occasions. If your daughter is feeling a little more into denim jackets, those will also be making a statement this fall in both the tradition denim and white colors.
Dressed Up
For the more dressier occasions, dresses this fall are full of ruffles. From rows of ruffles down the entire dress to a few rows of ruffle at the bottom for trim, one trend you will definitely see this fall is ruffles. Cap-sleeved A-line dresses and sleeveless are especially common and can be worn with a simple cardigan to keep warm on colder days.
Skirts are also sporting the ruffled look this fall. A darling ruffled skirt worn with a girly shirt or nice cardigan is a very hot look this fall. In addition, pleated skirts are not just for uniforms anymore. Loosely pleated skirts with elastic waistbands are also making a scene this season in simple solids and vintage floral prints. This fun and twirl-ready style of skirt is perfect for school or a fun fall outing.
Footwear
There are two main styles of shoes dominating the fashion trend this fall: ballet flats and riding boots. Ballet flats are so versatile and come in all kinds of colors and designs. Bows, ruffles or buckles on the top of ballet flats is very popular along with all over shine and sparkle. As for the boots, both western and European styles of riding boots are in. These boots generally have a very small heel and some type of buckle around the ankle. In addition, riding boots usually come up to at least mid shin on the leg.
