Update Your Hairstyle

If you've been wearing the same look for years or even just months, it's time to update your hairstyle. You don't need drastic changes to your haircut and color to change your style. A few simple changes will give you an entirely new look. Since these changes aren't permanent or drastic, you can easily change them back if you find the new look doesn't work for you.

Bangs

If you want a new look but don't want to chop off your long hair or if you have short hair and want to add a bit of texture to it, try cutting the hair in front into bangs. Bangs can make you look a few years younger, since they hide any lines on your forehead. Don't cut the bangs too short. If they don't work out for you, you want to be able to sweep them off to the side.

Switch Your Part

If you usually part your hair to the left, try parting it on the right for an instant update to your hairstyle. Although it's a simple change, switching up your hair's part can drastically alter your look, often for the better. Use care when changing your part, though. If your face is oval, a center part can make it look long and tired. A side part can make your face look unbalance if you have a round face.

Add Color

Perk up your hairstyle by adding highlights or going a shade lighter or darker. To start, you may want to try a wash-out hair dye so that the results aren't permanent if you dislike them. If you decide to do highlights, focus on the hair around your face for the greatest effect. If you find that you do like the new color or the highlights, head to a salon and have a professional apply permanent hair color.
