If you’ve had a change of heart regarding the lighting in your bathroom or the style of your home as a whole, you may wish to upgrade your bathroom lighting. When deciding how to proceed, keep the following types of lighting in mind.

Recessed Downlights

One of the major reasons why most people choose to upgrade the lighting in their bathroom is because their current lighting just isn’t functioning as well as it should. If you find yourself having problems seeing while in the shower, adding recessed downlights can make a world of difference. If glare is an issue, shields can be installed to protect your eyes when showering.

Cabinet Lighting

Many people find it difficult to see inside their cabinets when searching for toiletries in the middle of the night. Installing a linear light system either underneath the cabinet or inside of it can dramatically increase your ability to see what you’re doing. Ensure that the lighting you use is low-voltage, as lighting with higher voltage can cause glare.

Accent Lighting

Bathrooms are ideal for accent lighting. Installing a small spotlight and directing it at a piece of artwork on your wall can shift the focus of the room and give it a great deal of character. Accent lighting can range from low-voltage lighting strips to a high-powered spotlight, depending upon what purpose they are intended to serve.

Dimmers

One of the most common complaints about bathroom lighting is that it is too bright or harsh; installing a dimmer can put an immediate end to this issue. Dimmers allow you to adjust the bathroom’s lighting to meet your immediate needs, and are perfect for when you’d like to take a relaxing bath.

There are a variety of reasons why one might want to upgrade bathroom lighting, from functionality right down to pure aesthetics. Upgrading the lighting in your bathroom doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive, as there are plenty of options available that will fit your budget.
