What to Wear with an Isabel Marant Coat

Though Isabel Marant coats are often seen on celebrities like Kate Moss and Reese Witherspoon, they can be confusing to women who do not have a stylist on hand to show how to wear them and what to wear them with. These chic and fabulous creations should be looked at as a part of an outfit as a whole, and not just a piece to be placed over whatever you are wearing that day. Incorporating them into a full head to toe look allows the luxurious fabrics and fun cuts to be completely realized in a fashionable ensemble.

Isabel Marant coats are often recognizable by their heft and bulk. Therefore, in order to pair them with an outfit, it's important to have a balance between bulk and sleek. The classic Étoile Isabel Marant anthracite wool-blend bouclé-tweed coat is a perfect example of her draping technique, which flatters figures yet could look sloppy if the rest of the outfit isn't polished. Wear this double-breasted piece to update everything from skinny pants to evening dresses for contemporary cool. It can dress up a pair of skinny jeans and high heels, or make a knee length black pencil dress feel more contemporary.
The epitome of Parisian cool, Isabel Marant utilizes a good amount of detail in her coats. Her current July Jacket is casual, yet sumptuously decorated at the same time. The jacquard fabric, hook and eye closures, bracelet length sleeves and multi-stone beaded accents make the jacket both a piece of outerwear and an accessory at the same time. For this jacket, which features a boxy cut, a slim fitting dress falling just above the knee will enhance body proportions and lengthen the torso. Keeping the dress simple and flattering allows the jacket to be the centerpiece of the outfit.
Whichever of the Isabel Marant jackets you are wearing, keep in mind proportion. Mix up fabrics, long and short lengths, and patterns and solids.
