Want to root on your team while wearing an authentic jersey but hate the high price tags? You can definitely score one on the cheaper side; you just need to know where to look.
Most authentic jerseys are triple-digit investments, with some of the highest quality and most soft-after ones running over $200 easily, but you don't always have to go that route.
Here's some options to help you look the part while rooting for the home team:
Don't let the name fool you. This site has authentic jerseys from all the major team sports. There's a wide variety of prices, but you there's deals to be found for sure. How does a Reebok Marshawn Lynch Buffalo Bills jersey for $39.99 sound? The site also has throwbacks for most teams. How about a Detroit Pistons jersey for three-time All-Star Richard Hamilton for $39.99. Unfortunately all the prices aren't that low (a New York Rangers authentic will cost you about $299), but it's worth a look.
It doesn't have a great selection, but Amazon.com's prices when it comes to authentic Jerseys, new and used, are very competitive. For example, a search found an Adidas authentic Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Lakers jersey for just $35.99. The site also had a stunning Seattle Sounders jersey, of the MLS, for $97.
There's plenty of good deals (and you'll have no problem finding your size.) A recent search for Dallas Cowboys jerseys found several under $50 as the Buy it Now price (even for stars Tony Romo and Roy Williams!)
If you want to find jerseys that have actually been worn during a game, try out collegejersey.com. The site features a decent selection of game-worn college uniforms. For example, a 2002 Illinois State Redbirds jersey for $75. It has minor league baseball jerseys, like one for the Portland Pirates for $75. You can also have your name stitched on in either screened or sewn letters for an extra fee. There's a small selection of autographed jerseys (but seriously, why would you want to wear one?)
This site has a wide variety (even NASCAR uniforms). it offers certificates of authenticity if you’re nervous about what you’re buying. While many of its jerseys are insanely expensive, especially for stars of the past, there's plenty around $100. For example, there's a Tim Thomas Milwaukee Bucks jersey for just $37.56, a Brandon Jackson Packers jersey for $76.50. The site also has plenty of throwbacks, like a Joe Namath New York Jets jersey for $71.64.
Even though the prices on mlb.com, NHL.com, NFL.com and NBA.com are usually very high, they do offer occasional sales, you just need to keep checking. NHL.com, for example, had a 1993 St. Louis Blues authentic on sale for $199. And MLB.com had many batting practice jerseys for under $100, mostly throwbacks. Some of the offering include a Nolan Ryan 1989 Texas Rangers throwback, a Willie McGee St. Louis Cardinals batting practice jersey from 1985, and 1982 shirt for San Diego Padre Tony Gwynn.
