Where to Buy Great 80's Clothes for Women

By Christie Crawford , last updated January 11, 2012

Whether you are reliving the glory days or embracing your inner Madonna, every woman loves an 80's party! However, before you can “walk like an Egyptian” and jam to the B-52s, you are faced with the seemingly difficult task of deciding what to wear. Even though the cheesy 80's are long gone, you can still find great 80's-inspired clothing and accessories for women in your local mall for as little or as much as you want to spend.

Bottoms

You can’t go wrong with acid wash jeans. Check out a local thrift store or Salvation Army for dirt-cheap high-waist jeans, and cut the legs on the pants into shorts. For the “80's workout chick” look, American Apparel has the best bright-colored leggings and leotards. If you really want to make a statement, go as a rocker like Madonna, and layer a neon petticoat skirt from Hot Topic with bright leggings or fishnets. No matter what look you choose, no 80's outfit is complete without legwarmers. Order them online from American Apparel in fluorescent green or pink, or hit up the nearest Claire’s accessories store for a pair.

Tops

If you aren’t feeling a leotard, there is always the off-the-shoulder shirt option. Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and American Apparel all sell 80's-inspired off-the-shoulder shirts and crop tops. A vintage t-shirt from Salvation Army or any white t-shirt that you have lying around can be cut to create your own customized off-the-shoulder look for less.

Accessories

Claire’s and Hot Topic have the best 80's accessories at reasonable prices. Look for bright plastic hoop earrings, long faux-pearl necklaces, big-bow headbands, lace gloves, and the essential scrunchy. Top your look off with a side-ponytail and light blue eye shadow, and you’ll be sure to give Madonna a run for her money!
