What Are Overnight Babysitting Rates?

Care.com states that babysitters are paid an average of $10 per hour. However, overnight babysitting rates can be discounted. For instance, if a babysitter are normally paid $10 per hour, she may charge $8 for overnight sitting.

This discounted rate is because the babysitter is minding the home while the children are asleep without having to care for the children directly. If the babysitter is caring for the children before their bedtime, it may not be necessary to lower the rate.

Care.com also states that parents should pay $10 for each meal prepared for the children. If the babysitter makes dinner for the children before bed, she should still be paid $10 for meal preparation even if she reduces her hourly rate for overnight babysitting.
