Daim bar cake, known as "dime bar" cake in the United Kingdom, is a cake that features Daim candy from Sweden. Daim candies are bite-size crunchy caramel candies covered in milk chocolate and containing almonds. If you can obtain Daim candy, you can make a Daim bar cake at home.
Prepare and gather the ingredients
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 10-inch tube or Bundt pan. Chop 11 ounces of Daim candies into small chunks. You will also need 3 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/4 cup almond flour, 8 ounces (2 sticks) of unsalted butter, 1/4 cup light brown sugar, 4 eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 cup of plain yogurt. The almond flour can be made by grinding almonds in a food processor.
Mix the dry ingredients
Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, salt and almond flour. Remove 1 tablespoon of this mixture and toss the chopped Daim candies in it.
Mix the wet ingredients
Cream the butter for three minutes in the food processor. Add the sugar, and mix for two more minutes, then add the brown sugar, and mix for another minute. Add the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla extract, and blend.
Mix the wet and dry ingredients together
Add one-third of the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, then half the yogurt. Repeat, alternating between the flour mixture and yogurt till all ingredients have been combined. Mix to create batter. Stir in the chopped Daim candies, and pour into the cake pan.
Bake the Daim cake
Bake the cake for approximately 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake rest for 5 minutes on a cooling rack. Remove the cake carefully from the mold, then let it cool completely.
