Saute onion until tender in 2 tablespoons margarine; drainon paper towels. Combine onion, beef, pork, breadcrumbs, milk, and egg, mixing well. Add sugar, salt, nutmeg, and allspice, mixing well. Shape mixture into small balls; brown meatballs in 2 tablespoons margarine in a large, heavy skillet.

Combine beef and pork in large bowl. Soak crumbs with milk in separate bowl. Set aside. Heat 2 tablespoons butter in skillet and add onion. Saute until onion is tender, but not browned. Add onion to meat along with eggs, salt, pepper, allspice, sugar and soaked crumbs. Mix thoroughly but lightly.

1. In a large bowl, whisk the egg with the milk and bread crumbs; let stand for 5 minutes. Add the onion, parsley, salt, allspice, and nutmeg; blend well. Add the meats and stir with a fork until well blended. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes. 2. Sprinkle the flour on a piece of waxed paper

This one came from Lithuania. It has a nice tangy flavor, great with rice or buttered egg noodles.

Mix softened bread crumbs, cooked onion and ground beef. Add eggs, salt, pepper, nutmeg, paprika and flaxseed meal. Mix thoroughly until well blended. Shape meat into small balls, dusting hands with flour if necessary while shaping the balls.
