Some names of well-known chocolate bars are Snickers, Nestlé Crunch, Nestlé Milk Chocolate, Toblerone, Hershey's Milk Chocolate, Milky Way, Baby Ruth, Cadbury Milk Chocolate, Grenada Chocolate and Kit Kat. According to TIME, as of 2014, Snickers is the world's best-selling confection.
Launched in 1930, Snickers contains caramel, nougat and peanuts coated in chocolate. Supported by the successful “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” ad campaign, the candy bar reached $3.5 billion in sales in 2012.
Kit Kat was the first chocolate bar to achieve a global following. Marketed around sharing, it launched in the United States and Europe at the same time before expanding to Asia, Australia and Africa. In 2013, the first all Kit Kat store opened in Tokyo, Japan.
Introduced in 1875, Nestlé Milk Chocolate was the first chocolate bar to feature condensed milk. Its sweet, smooth taste paved the way for all other chocolate candy bars.
Launched in 1923, Milky Way was not named after the galaxy. It was actually inspired by a popular dessert at the time, the milky way malted milkshake.
Although most people associate the Baby Ruth bar with baseball legend Babe Ruth, its creators claimed that the bar was named for President Grover Cleveland's daughter. Launched in 1921, sales of the bar were boosted by its association with the baseball slugger.
