What Continent Is the Middle East On?

The Middle East is a region that is located on the continent of Asia. The region covers part of North Africa, but is situated mainly in Southwest Asia. The five major bodies of water that surround the region are the Caspian Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf.

The countries that are believed to be part of the Middle East on most maps are Yemen, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Palestinian Territories. Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria, Libya and Morocco can also be considered as countries belonging to the Middle East. The Primary language spoken in the region is Arabic, with Hebrew and Farsi, or Persian, being spoken primarily by people in Iran and Israel. Asia is the largest continent in the world and also contains over two-thirds of the world’s population.
