Hopewell, Va., is in Prince George County. Hopewell is located 24 miles from Richmond and 130 miles from Washington, D.C. Hopewell had a population of 22,591 people as of 2010. The city has an area of 11 square miles and a maximum elevation of 50 feet above sea level.
Hopewell is located at the confluence of the Appomattox River and James River. The city experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot and humid summers and mild winters. City Point is the oldest part of Hopewell and was established in 1612 by Sir Thomas Dale. The city was incorporated in 1914.
