Q:

Where is the Voodoo Village of Memphis, Tenn.?

A:

Voodoo Village is located off Shelby Drive on Mary Angela Road in southern Memphis, Tenn. The Voodoo Village is privately owned. Trespassers are strongly discouraged and may face legal action.

Voodoo Village has sculptures, statues and Freemason symbols surrounding several buildings. The facility was formerly known as Saint Paul's Spiritual Temple and served as a gathering place for followers of a local spiritual healer.

As of 2012, the compound is protected by a large iron fence. Washington James Harris, owner of the Voodoo Village and son of the original spiritual healer, says that the large fence is often not enough to deter trespassers and vandals. Around Halloween, Harris recruits volunteers to block the road and prevent people from entering his property.
