Q:

What special group advises the President?

A:

Established in Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, the group designed to advise the president is called the Cabinet. The Cabinet includes the vice president and the heads of 15 executive departments.

The executive departments that make up the Cabinet are Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Veterans Affairs and Attorney General. The secretaries of each department are part of the Cabinet, and their job is to advise the president on any subject he or she may require as it relates to the duties of each member's respective office. These members also hold ranks in the succession of the presidency in the event something happens to the president.
