Some liquid diets are limited to fruits and vegetables that replace all of a person’s meals, and are consumed three or four times a day. Other types can consist of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, promising a detoxification-style feeling.

Numerous vitamins, supplements and diet aids promise to speed weight loss. They claim to block absorption of nutrients, increase metabolism or burn fat. Prescription drugs, like Orlistat, marketed as Xenical, and Alli, also help weight loss.
- Rub on cream
The market is saturated with creams that claim to shrink fat cells and replace diet or exercise. Consult with a professional before use, and continue to eat fewer calories and exercise more.
- Be active
Engage in some sort of physical activity daily. This should include cardiovascular exercises like dancing, aerobics, zumba, running and swimming. Resistance training also plays a big part in helping to shape and tone muscles.
