Get a square piece of paper and mark its center (the intersecting point between the two diagonal lines from the four corners). Fold the two opposite corners towards this center point. Fold up the bottom corner with the tip half an inch above the center point. Secure the bottom flap using glue or double-sided tape. Fold the top corner down with the tip resting half an inch below the center.
Another way to make an envelope is by folding the paper in half to create a triangle. Hold the paper with one tip pointing up and the two equal tips to the side. Fold one side to the center one-third of the way. Fold the other side in the same way but tucking it into the fold of the other side to lock it in place. Then, fold down the top corner with the tip going beyond the edge of the base by about a half an inch. Fold the excess, and tuck it into the space at the bottom. This type of envelope does not require glue or tape.
This DIY envelope project can use different sizes, colors and designs of paper. The envelope can be used for handmade cards, gift tags, embellishments in scrapbooks and more.
