Mark the highest point possible on the gutter run, and do so 1 1/4 inches beneath the metal drip-edge flashing. Pinpoint the lower end of the gutter run at the other side of the fascia. Draw a line between the two marked points. Find the rafter tails that are located behind the fascia. Mark the chalk line on every other end of the rafters.
Drill a 1/8-inch hole in the fascia and rafter ends at the marked points. Tighten 1/4-inch stainless steel lag screws that are long enough to reach through the rafters at 2 inches.
Cut the gutter with a hacksaw to a desired length.
Attach end caps to the gutters.
Mark the lower end portion of the downspout with a downspout outlet. Draw inside of the outlet to find the downspout hole of the gutter. Drill a 1/4-inch hole through the middle of the circular outline. Turn over the gutter, and cut out the downspout hole using a 4-inch diameter hole saw.
Place the gutters on brackets from the fascia. Make sure that the hooks connect to the back of the brackets. Drill a 3/16-inch hole in the front gutter edge. Secure the gutter to the brackets with a 1-inch long stainless steel screw and a nut. Place aluminum strips on the gutters, and connect the downspout outlet to the gutter with pop rivets.

Having a pier and beam foundation also provides a crawlspace, which provides easier access to a building's utilities for easier maintenance.Full Answer >
