Painting a concrete bird bath requires a concrete sealer, oil-based masonry primer and masonry paint. The primer and paint can be applied with a standard bristle brush. Spray cans of primer and paint can also be used as an alternative to brushing.
Clean the bird bath with soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Next, apply a concrete sealer to the birdbath to prepare the surface for the primer coat. Once dry, apply the oil-based primer either by brush or spray can. After the primer is dry, apply the first coat of paint. A second coat of paint is recommended. Allow each coat to dry completely before starting on the next coat.
