A good diet for a baby rabbit, or kit, should contain a pellet food high in fiber (18 percent minimum), hay, vegetables and water. Vegetables with a high amount of vitamin A should be provided daily, including romaine lettuce, carrots, collard greens and parsley.
Some vegetables that are high in vitamin A, such as kale, spinach and mustard greens, also contain high levels of oxalates, which can cause a build up of toxicity over time. Their use should be limited to no more than one or two meals weekly. Kits need chewing items for their dental health and to prevent tooth enamel spikes from growing on the sides of their teeth. In addition to vegetables, chew sticks made from untreated wood will help the kit to develop its teeth properly.
