What did 19th century Russian clothing look like?

Answer

The people in Russia dressed, during the 19th century, the same as Prussian and French counterparts. Sarafan type clothing included a jumper that was trapeze-shaped and long. They had thin shoulder straps and could be worn over a sleeveless vest which was called a dushegreya. The clothing was worn by both girls and women and they were considered to be peasants. Aristocrats wore long heavy fabrics that had embroideries which had precious stone and gold embroidery.
