Collagen Fibers?

Answer

Collagen is a type of protein found throughout the body. When collagen twists itself up, it creates collagen fibers that create a strong, yet flexible mesh-like surface. Because this surface is strong and flexible at the same time, it serves as a structural element to much of the body. In fact, as the body ages it loses collagen, and this is partially why skin loses elasticity and begins to sag and wrinkle. Collagen fibers also work with other elements of the skin, such as elastin to help give the skin it?s firmness, yet ability to stretch as needed. Collagen fibers are also found in the bones and in blood vessels.
