# How do you measure the distance from one place to another?

The distance from one place to another is measured in miles when you are in the United States. In the majority of other countries, distance is measured in kilometers. 1 kilometer is the equivalent of approximately 0.6 miles. When crossing the border from the United States to Canada, remember to calculate distances in kilometers since that is what they use. For your convenience, the speedometer of most cars come with mile to kilometer conversions already.
