Mouth swab drug tests are used to test if a person has been using a certain drug. They are not completely accurate in that can only detect if a person has used drugs within 24 to 48 hours of conducting the swab test. It does not detect if a person used drugs anytime before that. A mouth swab drug test is performed by inserting a swab that looks like a brush into the mouth. It is then placed between the lower cheeks and gums until it is fully saturated.
