How Many Alveoli Do the Lungs Contain?

Answer

In humans, lungs are the organs of respiration. Alveoli are found in the respiratory zone and are the terminal ends of the respiratory tree. How an Alveolus work is that blood is pumped from the body into the alveolar blood vessels where it releases carbon dioxide and absorbs oxygen. Normal functioning lungs have many alveoli. Typically, a pair of human lungs contain about 700 million alveoli. Each alveolus is wrapped in a fine mesh of capillaries and contain collagen and elastic fibres.
