Is Pseudomonas Contagious?

Answer

Pseudomonas is a very contagious infection. The infection can be transferred by using the same towels or razors. It is very important to always wash your hands after using the restroom, or going inside a hospital. If there is any open wounds on the body, make sure they are always covered to prevent the spread of this infection. This infection is hard to treat. The infected patient will most likely need to be hospitalized, and have IV antibiotics.

It is contagious, yes, though it is soon eradicated by the immune systems of most healthy people. In these people it does not have a chance to do much, if any, damage - few would even know they came into contact with it.

However, in people whose immune systems are compromised, pseudomonas bacteria can invade rapidly and create quite a nasty lung infection that can be hard to treat. It can be deadly to anyone suffering from cystic fibrosis.
