There are several kinds of bacteria as well as viruses that are responsible for most illnesses. In the United States some of the most common bacteria that lead to many of the illnesses, hospitalizations, and even deaths are easily avoidable with proper sanitation practices. Salmonella exposure can cause food poisoning with symptoms that last 4 to 7 days. Symptoms of food poisoning may include fever, abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, and vomiting. If you suspect you have food poisoning you should drink a lot of fluid to prevent dehydration.
