Make Nitric Acid?

Answer

Ammonium nitrate and oxygen are used to make nitric acid. The formula for this is NH3 and it must be done in high temperatures and in the presence of rhodium and platinum. What is produced from this is called nitrous oxide. The nitrous oxide is then dissolved in water and makes nitric acid, or NHO3. Nitric acid is highly corrosive and a mineral acid. It is colorless and most often commercially made at a concentration of only 68%. If the concentration gets above 86%, it is called fuming nitric acid, white fuming nitric acid, or even red fuming nitric acid.
