Painting Ostrich Eggs?

Answer

The first step in painting ostrich eggs is to empty the contents of the egg, wash the inside and outside well, and allow to completely dry. Next, a primer will need to be applied to the entire surface of the egg. A good product for priming this type of craft is Gesso. Once the primer has completely dried, one can paint the egg with any type of acrylic paint. Using an egg holder allows the artist to paint the egg without streaking or smudging the paint. Once painted, allow to completely dry and use a glaze if desired.
