# Score Equals How Many Years?

Twenty years is equal to a score. The term 'a score' was first introduced during the Gettysburg Address by the United States President Abraham Lincoln in November of 1863. President Lincoln used the iconic phrase 'Four score and seven years ago' while discussing the Declaration of Independence and when it was established in 1776, which in turn would translate into 87 years. The phrase 'a score' is commonly used and yet sadly most do not understand the meaning behind it or where it came from.
