Selling Trees for Lumber?

Answer

Selling trees for lumber is not as easy of a process as you might think. For one, there are a lot of legal rules and regulations governing this practice. You cannot go into your backyard and chop down a tree to sell, for instance. You have to obtain a licence, and prove that the lumber is coming from land that you have rights too. In some states, zoning restrictions are also a factor and you must adhere to these, or you could face fines and even possible jail time.
