When to Plant Vegetables in Texas?

Answer

Texas has a warm climate that allows a year-round growing season for many vegetables. Cabbage, celery, carrots, greens, mushrooms, sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, and turnips all grow year-round. Several plants have a long growing season, but fall short of 12 months. Broccoli grows from October through May, cantaloupe grows May through December, and cucumbers grow April through December. Grapefruit grows from October through April and honeydew melon May through January. Not everything has a long growing season in Texas. Cherries only grow from June to July and new potatoes grow from may to June. Because of the variety of growing seasons, you can plant vegetables in Texas just about any time you want.
